001×7 is a kind of strong acidic cation exchange resin with sulfonic acid functional groups(−SO3H). It can dissociate hydrogen ions (H+) in water solutions.
The resin is composed of a high-molecular backbone and ion exchange groups. The high-molecular backbone supports the resin structure and sulfonic acid groups act as active sites and responsible for the ion exchange process.
When the resin contact with a solution containing cations, the hydrogen ions on the resin will undergo exchange with the cations in the solution. This exchange is based on the differences in charge balance and ionic affinity.
For example, the resin can remove hard water components of calcium ions (Ca2+) and magnesium ions (Mg2+) from water, while releasing hydrogen ions to achieve water softening.
Application field
Water treatment: It is used to soften water and remove heavy metal ions (such as lead, copper, etc.) and radioactive substances from water.
Pharmaceutical industry: In the process of drug purification, it is used to remove impurity ions and improve the purity of drugs.
Food industry: In processes such as decolorizing sugar solutions and clarifying fruit juices, it removes undesirable flavors and pigments.
Chemical industry: as a catalyst carrier, separation medium, etc.
Regeneration of resin
After being used for a period of time, the exchange capacity of the resin will gradually decrease, and at this point, regeneration treatment is required.
Regeneration is usually carried out using strong acid solutions such as sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid. Through acid washing, the cations on the resin are replaced to restore the resin's exchange capacity.
